[Tagboard] Os Mutantes Fuzz / Deadpool

Yo!

Here’s another cool project for ya – Os Mutantes Fuzz (a.k.a Regulus VIII) !

Circuit developed in 70’s by Cesar Dias for Os Mutantes guitarist.

Very unique sounding circuit powered by two silicon NPN transistors. Only one knob – Volume and Filter switch to cut bass response frequency. There’s also silicon diode clipping section for even more distortion and compression.

[Various] Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz Tone

Classic as hell. THE really first fuzz unit ever produced, popularized by guys who can’t get no satisfaction.

The only way to get buzzy tone before that was to slash the speakers withΒ razor blades.

First layout is designed to go with 15″ pitch vero, vertical axial e-caps – if you use BC Electronics 63v they’re not longer than 1/2W CC resistors, so IMO it’s fine.

Two versions, both share the same component layout. First one is for kind-of TBMK1 mounting style, second one is made for MK2 bender style mounting brackets, the same crap, different flavor.

* Version I vero.pdf

* Version II vero.pdf

Full offboard shielded wiring sexy as me included.

Second layout is for perfboard/eyelet (your choice), old school charm and kind of back to the roots for me. Love to that kind of projects make me to set turretboard.org up! I need to make more of those layouts sometimes soon – get it here.pdf

Diaphanous Exploder

I was working on this circuit since 2006. It’s completely new design, never seen in effect pedal industry ever before. Surly I took little from other designs, mainly from different 70’s mixing consoles.

So What it is?

Diaphanous Exploder.pdf [click to download] is transparent booster (or boobster if you push it harder), skill driver/shifter, and penis enlarger.

This short description says all. Idea behind this project was to have three pedals in one with minimum controls. I did flow with current fashion during design to build as much transparent pedal as possible. If you ask me, you can’t get much closer in transparency field as this!

Also, what I was missing searching over past few years for perfectly balanced and transparent boobster/overhype pedal is to have more control over speed and feeling. Here you can set perfect balance between that two with just one twist of single knob. How fucking cool is this?

Layout shows full off-board wiring, with shielded in/out jacks. No mains socket, you really have to run it from single carbon battery for best performance. Use 2W CC resistor for perfect sound/noise ratio, and have fun!

EDIT: No, I’m not an diabetic πŸ˜‰

It was April’s Fool project πŸ™‚

[0.1″ pitch stripboard, tagboard] Elka – Dizzy Tone

Yo! Here’s vero layout for Elka Dizzy Tone!
Very rare vintage fuzz unit. It’s almost indentical to Baldwin Burns Buzzaround – just few components values are changed.

Get the project file [.pdf]

PAGE UPDATE 03/04/2012

Here’s tag board adaptation for Elka Dizzy Tone based on Buzzaround layout (just little smaller – should fit 125b enclosure).

In orginal unit as Q1 and Q2 where used SFT352 (schematic on fsb.org shows hfe around 50) and SFT308 or OC44 as Q3 (hfe around 70).

Enjoy!

[0.1″ pitch stripboard] D*A*M – Red Rooster RR-09

Β

Yo! Here’s D*A*M take on Dallas Rangemaster – Red Rooster!

It’s classic treble booster circuit with added capacitor input blend and trimpot in place of 3k9 resistor on transistor emitter for better bias.

First roosters where made with excellent NPN germanium transistor CV7112 (military specs OC140). Later NPN units sports OC140 or OC139. Most recent PNP versions are equipped with many different transistor types – OC71, OC72, OC42, OC45, Magnatec AC128, CV7355 and CV7004.

Usually low leakage transistors in 70-100hfe gain bucket are recomended, but You can try other transistor types or specs – trust Your ears, not eyes πŸ™‚

IMPORTANT UPDATE 13/06/2012

Due to D*A*M counterfeit pedals that recently appeared on the marked all D*A*M straight layouts will be removed from turretboard.org and will be replaced soon with our own works and interpretations.

[point to point] D*A*M – Logan Bender

Here’s layout for custom one-off MKI-ish Tone Bender called by D.A. Main “Logan Bender” made for one of D*A*M forum members.

It’s MKI type Tone Bender with some interesting components values tweeks. In fact..
it’s closer to Zonk Machine specs than Tone Bender πŸ™‚

I’m not sure of Level pot value – maybe it’s 1M instead 500K due to lower output resistor (680K instead 2.2M)..?

It sports three rare Mullard labeled OC75, and I bet that it’s sounds killer! πŸ™‚

[point to point, tag board] Pigdog Driver

Yo!

I don’t know if any of You are familiar with Pigdog Pedals… If not – You should! Steve’s work are always true art of work – for ears and for eyes, as well.

Here’s lovely point to point layout for Pigdog Driver, which is… Yes! Treble Booster with added input capacitors blend. This allows to achive stock treble booster tones or even full boost! Additionaly output cap is increased. All other circuit components values are stock. There where builded 11 units in total and few more in smaller enclosure.

All Drivers are filled with mojo parts and rare germanium transistors and dedicated to british racing legends.

Some even sports legendary yellow Mullard OC44 or ultra rare OC70!

Have fun!

UPDATE 24/03/2012

Added tagboard version – get the project file here [.pdf]

It’s not the same layout as used by Steve in his Mini Drivers, but has the same specs.

Peace!
